Sammy joined the Design Team at Sycamore in 2018 as an Apprentice CAD Engineer. He is adapting well to his new role and is keen to get stuck in, learning CAD skills and more about our industry.

I, along with the design team, design bespoke engineering solutions.

What is your apprenticeship?
EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Engineering - Product Design & Development which I am studying for at Yeovil College.
How long have you been on the course?
Two years so far and two years left.
What have you enjoyed most about your apprenticeship so far?
Witnessing the development of my designs go from drawings to being manufactured in our workshop.
What project are your working on now?
I’m currently designing a new Curd Distribution Vessel (CDV) for producer of award-winning cheddar.
What are you excited to achieve at Sycamore?
I’m keen to start designing for larger projects and have more independence.
What does a typical day at Sycamore look like for you?
Day-to-day I’m speaking with customers and suppliers, creating drawings, manipulating CAD Software to generate 3D models and manufacturing drawings of bespoke designs/products.
What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
Most people think Sammy is my nickname but it’s actually on my birth certificate.
