Joe joined Sycamore in 2013. As our Design Engineering Manager, he is focused on resolving our customers' engineering problems and providing effective designs. Joe is responsible for our CAD and Design Engineers and keeping up to date with engineering directives and codes of practice.
Joe is currently studying to be a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and should complete the course in 2021.
I sit in the project office which is shared with the design and project delivery teams. I lead the design team, so my day is generally filled with design reviews for live projects or new enquiries, resource management and generating P&ID’s to meet our customer requirements. I sometimes dust off my Autodesk Inventor skills and generate 3D models as well, but my team for some reason, generally prefer me not to.
My favourite project to work on so far was Hall & Woodhouse and not just because of the Friday afternoon beer tasting meetings. It was a big responsibility for me, and I got to build a relationship with the customer by managing the upfront design and then help run the team on site.
The best bit about working at Sycamore is that no two jobs are the same, there is always something different to work on and unique challenges with every job.
As a keen snowboarder and former ski resort rep, Joe also spends a lot of his spare time pretending to be cooler than he actually is!
