It was Sycamore’s very prompt and positive approach to the initial enquiry that led to this significant installation in which 25ml and 100ml sachets of water (of varying grades of purity) are produced in a ‘clean room’ environment.
Initially the client required four tanks of known capacity (two with load cell technology) to be installed in a known location within a known time frame. Tank height, access and timescales all presented major challenges but Sycamore were chosen because of their professional and positive ‘can do’ attitude. The tanks were manufactured, delivered and installed on schedule and on budget.
The accompanying process design had to ensure product integrity, processing flexibility and allow safe and secure CIP operations. When mix proof valve technology was ruled out for cost reasons, Sycamore’s process design engineers came up with a unique flow plate technology solution that achieved the same result and reduced costs significantly.
At quite an advanced stage in the project, Sycamore were advised that the two gravity fed sachet filling machines could only operate efficiently if the supply head was controlled extremely accurately. This late and significant change to the specification presented a major challenge, made all the more difficult because the output from the filling machine was intermittent whereas the input was continuous. As ever, Sycamore provided the solution drawing on their wealth of experience and innovative thinking.
This project provided us with some challenges, however we overcame these to leave our customer satisfied.
